Kadidiatou Diani has announced she will no longer play for Paris Saint-Germain, as she leaves the club as a free agent.
While PSG have been subject to many transfer moves away from the club, it can't be questioned that this particular departure comes as the most significant.
Since the beginning of the transfer window, reports did suggest that many clubs were attempting a deal with Diani, but despite that, it was thought that she would continue on in Paris for a bit longer.
This now proves not to be the case, and everything points toward a partnership between Diani and PSG's rivals and fellow French superpower Lyon. The two clubs have a history of one of the biggest rivalries in Women's football, as they have constantly had to battle it out for trophies.
Despite the 24-year-old's move to Lyon looking inevitable, some still hope that Chelsea hijacks the deal and reunite Diani with another former Parisienne, Ashley Lawrence.
Diani's goodbye message
"It is with deep emotion that I announce my departure from Paris Saint-Germain. Although difficult to accept, this decision marks an end of an era. While at Paris Saint-Germain, I showed dedication, loyalty, and constantly pushed my limits."
"Though I feel great sadness announcing my departure, I would like to express my gratitude to PSG for the unforgettable moments I experienced."
"I would also like to thank club supporters for their support. Your passion and commitment have helped me make this even more of an adventure."
"It's a new chapter begins, not farewell, but a simple goodbye. You will forever remain in my heart; thank you for everything."
It was a very heartfelt and emotional post from the player, who will surely be greatly missed by supporters and the club itself
It's a massive disappointment that Diani decided not to continue with PSG, as she was a player who felt like the heart of the club.
The next few weeks will be crucial regarding PSG's plans to replace their star player. So far, they have recruited Viola Calligaris and Ana Vitoria while renewing Ramona Bachmann and, recently, Laurina Fazer. They will also hope that Marie-Anotinette Katoto will be available when the season gets underway.
We wish Diani good luck for the future.
