The PSG players have voted to choose their captain for the 2024-2025 season. And there were no surprises.
Since arriving at PSG in the summer of 2023, Luis Enrique has allowed his players to choose their captain for the season. Luis Enrique emphasized that his approach to selecting the team captain is straightforward and player-focused.
He explained that he does not personally choose the captain; instead, it is up to the players to decide among themselves. Enrique noted that, once the transfer window closes, the players will make their choice for the captaincy.
He added that he does not anticipate significant leadership changes, as key players like Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos are still part of the team. This approach reflects his belief in empowering players to have a say in team leadership and fostering a sense of collective responsibility.

Therefore, a vote took place in Poissy in recent days to elect the player who will wear the captain’s armband for the 2024-2025 season. And, there were no surprises.
As in the previous season, Marquinhos has been elected by his peers to be the captain of PSG. Since Thiago Silva's departure in the summer of 2020, the Brazilian international has held this role in the Parisian squad, marking his fifth consecutive season in this position. In its statement, PSG also revealed the vice-captains for the current season.
With the departures of Danilo Pereira and Kylian Mbappe, other players will take on this role. Thus, Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma will assist Marquinhos. Despite being sidelined since February 2023, Presnel Kimpembe will also take on the role of vice-captain.
This system of player-chosen leadership is intended to foster a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual respect within the squad. Luis Enrique believes that having the team decide on their captain helps in building trust and a cohesive unit.
