Although PSG have not yet submitted their official 23-man squad for the group stage of the Champions League, RMC Sport has obtained the final list of players and it doesn't feature Marco Verratti nor Hugo Ekitike, according to Fabrice Hawkins.
Drawn into Group F alongside Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Newcastle, PSG should reveal their 23-man squad for the group stage through the week, if not even today.
Two key players of the team last season, Marco Verratti and Hugo Ekitike, will not be included in this roster, rendering them ineligible for participation in the six group-stage matches. Both of them are still under contract at PSG but they have undergone exit talks with different sides through the summer with their potential sales expected at different points.
Italy international Marco Verratti's future remains uncertain, with rumors swirling about a potential move to Qatar on the horizon. That sale can still be completed in the next 36 hours as the transfer markets of Qatar (and Saudi Arabia, another possible destination) remain open until Thursday, Sept. 7.
Meanwhile, Hugo Ekitike faces tough competition upfront following the arrivals of Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos, and Marco Asensio during the summer transfer window. He knows what's coming if he stays in tow, but he still seems to be reluctant to leave PSG.
Keylor Navas, who was previously rumored to be leaving PSG, finds himself on Luis Enrique's list. The main reason for that is surely a lack of suitors with most transfer windows across Europe already closed and no interest from Saudi Arabia clubs in the veteran goalie.
Presnel Kimpembe, who is still on the path to full recovery from injury, was included in the squad in a promising sign that he might be closer than expected to make his anticipated return to the field.
