Luis Hernandez emerging as PSG's locker room leader
Despite PSG's disastrous performance on Wednesday, summer arrival Lucas Hernandez is making a significant impact in the locker room, highlighted by his standout goal at Newcastle a few days ago.
Amidst the high-profile summer signings, Lucas Hernandez, acquired from Bayern for €45m, is proving to be a quiet force on the field. Not only did the central defender showcase his prowess with a well-placed header, securing PSG's lone goal at Newcastle, but his influence extends beyond the pitch.
Hernandez attended (alongside coach Luis Enrique) the post-match press conference. Taking this (and many others) responsibility for the team, he addressed the press, stating, "We didn't put what we needed on the pitch, and that's evident," during an interview.
Hernandez's impact goes beyond media interactions. Reports from RMC reveal that he addressed his teammates in the locker room, becoming more assertive as weeks progressed.
Some within PSG are already expressing regret that he isn't among the elected captains. Notably, none of the current captains—Marquinhos, Danilo Pereira, Presnel Kimpembe, and Kylian Mbappe—stepped forward to explain the team's disappointing performance at St James' Park on Wednesday.
