Luis Enrique's staff at PSG is starting to take shape
After the failed negotiations with Julian Nagelsmann, it is another coach available on the market with a great resume that PSG has chosen, since everything indicates that it is precisely Luis Enrique who will take Christophe Galtier's place on the Parisian bench in the coming days.
The talks between the two parties are well advanced, although the club remains cautious after the previous 'snub' they recently went through with Nagelsmann. However, the former coach of the Spanish national team would have already accepted the position and is nearly assured to take over the Parc des Princes touchline.
According to recent reports, this would be a two-year contract offered by PSG to Luis Enrique, revealed Le Parisien. This makes sense, as that's a very reasonable length and aligns with deals offered by the Parisian organization.
Other sources have revealed that this is not the only issue that is currently being negotiated, as there is another key point under discussion: the coaching staff that the former Barcelona coach will have at his disposal in Paris.
This could be a controversial point and it is believed to have been problematic with Nagelsmann, according to German sources, ultimately leading up to the coach and PSG breaking their negotiations.
A combination of Galtier's staff and Luis Enrique's own choices?
Thierry Oleksiak will leave with Galtier, but Le Parisien opened the door to a possible collaboration with the rest of the previous staff with Enrique, citing, in particular, the case of coaching assistant Joao Sacramento.
Other staffers could stay put, such as Pedro Gomez, in charge of physical preparation, who was assisted by Alberto Piernas. Isidro Ramon was responsible for the video analysis and might also be retained by PSG and Enrique.
Luis Enrique also has his trusted men and the best known is the physical trainer Rafel Pol, who shared time together in the Spain national team. Juan Carlos Unzue's son Aitor Unzue replaced him in Enrique's staff in the past and therefore could be included in Luis Enrique's favorite options to fill the staff room. Joaquin Valdes, Luis Enrique's psychologist, is also likely to arrive.
The only sure thing is that Luis Enrique will have to find a goalkeeping coach since Gianluca Spinelli, who arrived in France in 2018 along with Gianluigi Buffon, and who worked with Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, and Galtier, ends his contract on June 30, 2023, and will leave PSG to join, it's believed, Inter.
In the national team, Luis Enrique had trusted Juanjo Gonzalez, with whom he had never worked before joining the Spain national team.
It's funny, though, how PSG and Enrique are already working on their staff for next season while the capital club hasn't even finalized their breakup with current (and still employed) manager Christophe Galtier...
