PSG still have one final game on this season's schedule, but the club has already started to work ahead of next season with the signing of Milan Skriniar and the arrival of Marco Asensio expected for July. Next in line could be Lucas Hernandez, according to RMC's Fabrice Hawkins.
After first hearing whispers of a potential move made by PSG to land Bayern Munich defender and France international Lucas Hernandez a few days ago, RMC reported on Thursday that the player might have already informed his club about his preference to join PSG instead of extending his contract at Bayern, one that runs through June 2024.
According to RMC, the 2018 World Cup champion has told his current club that he's not interested in extending his contract beyond that date. That, obviously, will lead Bayern to make a decision on whether they want to try and convince him to stay in tow, or rather sell him now before he gets devalued or, worst-case scenario, leaves for free a year from now.
Bayern have seemingly offered the defender a contract extension and a salary rise that would see him stay put in Germany through June 2027, though the left-back has rejected that offer.
After the German side won the Bundesliga last weekend, they fired both Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic, important figures in the organization's organigram of power. That has only brought more doubts about the future of the Bayern project in the eyes of Lucas Hernandez among others, which might lead to an early departure.
RMC also revealed that Lucas Hernandez's "mental profile" fits the guidelines set up by PSG's sporting advisor Luis Campos when it comes to his transfer targets ahead of the 2023/24 season, making the left-back a perfect player for PSG to chase this summer.
