Paris Saint-Germain fans can officially end their panic and start celebrating as the club announced the extension of Laurina Fazer until 30th June 2025.
Fazer's contract was one of the many coming to its' end, and since news such as Amanda Ilestedt and Li Mengwen extending their time in Paris was revealed to be untrue, fans were quick to worry for their French players, Laurina being one of them.
Despite interest from other clubs, like Manchester City, Fazer has decided to continue with her country's capital club and put all rumors of a departure away.
The two-time D1 Arkema award winner has become a pivotal part of PSG's squad and even future. Fazer staying with the club is the best outcome for both parties, as PSG need to keep their young talent for as long as possible, and as for the 19-year-old, being highly loved by fans and possibly being involved in the club's first-ever Champions League win, would make her quite the icon in years to come.
Fazer is currently training with the French national team and has been selected for the preliminary squad for the World Cup.
Laurina Fazer on her new contract
After PSG broke the news that they had offered a new deal to the young French player and she had indeed excepted, Fazer sat down for an interview with the PSG official website.
Laurina started by saying what extending her contract meant "I'm really proud. I really wanted to extend my contract with the club," to finish this statement, Fazer added some words that the fans and club would be glad to hear "It's the club I love, and I hope to continue for many years to come!"
She sees PSG's faith in her as motivation but also knows, "There are expectations, but I'm not putting myself under any pressure."
Fazer spoke about her journey so far with PSG and how it's impacted her "I've progressed a lot mentally. The club has helped me grow and improve as a player and as a woman. I want to thank Paris for that."
Moving on from the subject, she then discussed her objectives for the 23/24 term, "I want to make a place for myself in this squad, to get more playing time. I want to win trophies; we have the players to achieve great things. We deserve to win trophies!"
Fazer becomes the second player to extend their contract with PSG, with Ramona Bachmann being the first. While most of PSG's free agents have left the club, two remain. Sarah Bouhaddi is still with PSG but will have to decide what the future holds for her in the next few weeks.
And most notably, Kadidiatou Diani, whose contract ended just a few days, and has many clubs such as Chelsea and Lyon hoping to sign her. PSG will for sure want to keep their striker, but if she remains in Paris will be seen in the coming weeks.
