Kylian Mbappe returns to training, promises Champions League win
PSG held another training session on Wednesday ahead of the game against RC Lens next Saturday. After missing the Tuesday matinee, Kylian Mbappe returned to training with the group at the Camp des Loges on Wednesday... and later shared a very promising statement.
Mbappe missed the training session of PSG scheduled for Tuesday, April 11. He remained in care for the day after suffering a hit in the hip. However, the face of PSG returned to the Camp des Loges lawn on Wednesday.
The 2018 world champion appeared in the training shots of the day posted by Paris Saint-Germain on their social networks.
Mbappe has been bothered by his hip for several days. Galtier informed the media in his post-game press conference after the game against Nice about Mbappe's shaky status, revealing that he played slightly banged up.
Although not confirmed, it is very possible that this hip injury would be partly an explanation for the current slump Mbappe's going through, having spent three full games without scoring a single goal.
Kylian Mbappe wants to win the Champions League next... at Paris Saint-Germain
After the training session, Mbappe spoke about his future on Wednesday at Tout le Sport on France 3 radio. He might have not said a lot, but Mbappe surely said one reassuring thing: he's in Paris to stay and lead the team to their first Champions League title.
The French forward left no room for doubt. "The next step? To win the Champions League, I think," said Mbappe. "I've already made it to a final, a semi-final, a quarter-final, a round of 16… I have done it all except winning.
"That's all I need," Mbappe continued, before adding that he hopes "it will be as soon as possible." Asked about where he will do that, he questioned, then answered that question himself: "Where? At Paris Saint-Germain. I'm Parisian and under contract. So it's Paris Saint-Germain“, he claimed.
Mbappe is under contract at PSG until June 2025, although the last year is part of an option that needs to be activated in the summer of 2024 at the latest by both the player and the team.
