On June 3, Lionel Messi's departure from Paris Saint-Germain was finally made official after the Argentine decided not to renew his contract with the French capital's team. An exit that Kylian Mbappe did not like very much, and that's exactly what he made public in an exchange with a renowned media sports outlet.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, in addition to giving more thought to his contractual situation with PSG and his supposed desire to sign for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe was questioned about the recent departure of Lionel Messi from the Parc des Princes.
Mbappe made it clear that it is never good news when a player like Messi leaves and declared himself surprised that some consider it something positive: "We are talking about possibly the best player in the history of football. It is never good news when someone like Messi is leaving. I don't quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was leaving", said Kylian.
Kylian Mbappe: "Messi didn't got the respect he deserved in France"
The Parisian striker also recognized the "mistreatment" that Messi was given in the French country, and hinted that he still feels part of the PSG project: "He didn't have the respect he deserved in France. It's a shame, but that's how it is We will have to do what we can to replace him", he concluded.
Just a few hours ago, Kylian Mbappe pointed out again that he will play for PSG next season, but also made public his decision not to extend his contract with the Parisians beyond June 2024.
With half a month of June, and all of July and August ahead, it is still difficult to know if the Frenchman, like Messi, will leave Paris Saint-Germain in search of new challenges for the 2023/2024 season.
