Juan Bernat, Fabian Ruiz called up by Spain
PSG defender Juan Bernat and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz have been called up by the manager of Spain's senior international side Luis de la Fuente for their UEFA Nations League semi-final game.
Spain will face Italy in the Netherlands on Jun. 15th, and if they can beat them then they'll face the winner of the matchup (Croatia vs. the Netherlands) in the Nations League final to earn the right of qualifying straight into the Euro 2024 scheduled for next summer.
Bernat returns to the team after missing the first squad named by Luis de la Fuente following his appointment as Spain's manager after the 2022 Qatar World Cup, one he named back in March. Bernat, in fact, had not made it to the senior squad since he lastly was called-up all the way back in 2019.
Ruiz, who is currently injured and not training at PSG facilities while recovering, has also been called up. On the other hand, Carlos Soler won't represent Spain in the Nations League semi-final matchup against Italy in a couple of weeks.
