Colombian football legend James Rodriguez, known around the world for his stellar run in the 2014 World Cup, chose Real Madrid over PSG back then despite having similarly lucrative offers on his table from both clubs.

James didn't reveal this information by himself, however; it was shared with the world during a Twitch stream with Colombian content creator Pelicanger, who is close to the former international and was able to snatch the information from him on a live broadcast.

Following that World Cup performance, James embarked on a football journey that saw him play at Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Everton, Al-Rayyan, Olympiakos, and Sao Paulo.

Injuries and limited playing time have marked a downturn in James' career since his glory days in 2014, but he's still revered across world football and widely respected.

During the Twitch conversation, the 32-year-old midfielder revealed that PSG and Man City offered him better financial offers than Real Madrid. However, James expressed his desire to win titles and earn a larger prestige, thus his choice for the Spanish club over the nouveau riche from Paris and Manchester.

"I wanted glory. There is nothing like Real Madrid. Florentino Perez called me and asked me, 'Do you want the money or the glory?' and I told him I wanted fame. He then said to me, 'Well, then it’s done,'" James Rodriguez retold.

While rumors circulated about PSG's renewed interest in James in subsequent years, no deal materialized between the Colombian and the Parisian club, with the player going on to complete an extraordinary career filled full of titles elsewhere.
