Is Liverpool still in the race for the signing of Kylian Mbappe?

Analyzing Kylian Mbappe's situation at PSG following the closure of the summer transfer window, L'Equipe reports that while Real Madrid has been a long-standing admirer of the French striker, it is not the sole plausible destination for him if he completes the final year of his contract and departs Paris next summer.

Mbappe's return to PSG's first team last month came after a brief period of exile prompted by a disagreement with the club's management. Concerned about the possibility of losing the player without compensation, PSG and Mbappe reached a resolution, primarily centered around substantial loyalty bonuses.

This development has seemingly cleared the path for Mbappe to remain with PSG for one more season, although the club still aspires to persuade him to extend his stay. In the current scenario, L'Equipe reveals that Liverpool remains an enticing option for the 24-year-old, with the suggestion that he might consider an offer from Anfield.

Liverpool has also been a long-time admirer of Mbappe, dating back to his days with AS Monaco when they even arranged a rather unconventional meeting with the striker on a plane to present him with their project.

L'Equipe also confirms that Mbappe, known to be a fan of Jurgen Klopp, declined discussions regarding a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. Moreover, Real Madrid did not submit an offer at any point during the summer transfer window, leaving the door open for Liverpool to potentially make a bid in 2024.
