Hugo Ekitike has another Premier League suitor
Hugo Ekitike finds himself in high demand this summer, with a host of potential suitors vying for his signature across top European leagues such as the Premier League, Ligue 1, and the Bundesliga.
The newest club to join the race for the acquisition of the young Frenchman seems to come from the British islands in Premier League side Brentford, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Just last year, Ekitike made a significant move from Sade de Reims to Paris Saint-Germain in a €32m deal, initially on loan with an obligation to purchase the player if PSG won the league. However, the young talent's circumstances have shifted following his first season in Paris.
Despite starting his Parisian chapter with high hopes, the PSG hierarchy's intentions to part ways with Ekitike have become evident.
Despite his initial inclination to remain at PSG, the player has only seen a mere ten minutes of action across the first three Ligue 1 fixtures, leading him to consider a new beginning as he's not in Luis Enrique's plans for the remainder of the 2023 season and beyond.
As the transfer market heats up and the transfer deadline quickly approaches, a cluster of clubs including West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Frankfurt, and Lyon are actively pursuing the 21-year-old forward.
Notably, the latest contender for Ekitike's services is London-based Brentford, information revealed on Wednesday by football insider Fabrizio Romano and also echoed by The Telegraph later.
Brentford are unmistakably joining the race for this emerging talent's acquisition, and they can hope to land him for an offer approaching €25m without bonuses.
Another option is for a club to get Ekitike on loan, and then purchase him next June following the expiration of his deal in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, although that's not the preferred alternative of PSG at this point.
