PSG lost a pivotal game against Lens away from home by a sound 3-1 final score as part of the match day 17 of Ligue 1. The Paris Saint-Germain squad never found their footing and struggled for the full 90 minutes in an awful match that marked their first loss of the season.

For different reasons, be it rest or suspensions, multiple players from PSG will miss at least one week of play after Sunday's game away at Lens. How many matches will Kylian Mbappe, Achraf Hakimi, and Marco Verratti miss?

Starting with the Italy international, who played his 400th game with PSG last Sunday, Verratti will miss one game after getting handed a yellow card on the game against Strasbourg on Wed. 28, and due to card accumulation.

That yellow card will keep Verratti out of the pitch on Friday in the PSG matchup against Chateauroux FC part of the French Cup round of 64.

On top of Verratti's absence, PSG won't be able to count on World Cup participants Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi. Both players appeared in the final two games of the international competition in Qatar, playing in the final and the third-place game respectively.

Verratti is suspended for one French Cup game and Hakimi for one Ligue 1 match. Mbappe is just enjoying some time off...

After returning to PSG earlier than expected and appearing in the first two Ligue 1 games played as part of the French Boxing Day, Mbappe and Hakimi have been given a week off by PSG.

Mbappe is getting the one-week vacation without any reason attached to it other than letting him rest on his own after coming back early and performing in the 2-1 victory hosting Strasbourg and the embarrassing 3-1 defeat away from home against Lens.

Achraf Hakimi was forced to play makeshift left-back last Sunday against Lens while Juan Bernat recovered from a late injury. The Morocco international finished the match with a yellow card, which meant a one-game suspension for him in Ligue 1 competition. That means Hakimi should be available on Friday, but that won't be the case.

Hakimi, similarly to his BFF Mbappe, has been given a one-week vacation to enjoy as he pleases. That means Hakimi and Mbappe won't play for PSG next Friday in the capital club's French Cup match.

Mbappe could return on Jan. 11 in the game against Angers at the Parc des Princes as he'd have already completed his week off. That said, if he keeps enjoying basketball games in Brooklyn (yes, even after the shaming 3-1 defeat to Lens...) it is going to be hard for him to be fit enough then.

Next. Will Lionel Messi and Neymar play for PSG next Friday?. dark

The most probable outcome is for both Mbappe (unfit for Jan. 11's game) and Hakimi (suspended) to return on Jan. 15 while visiting Rennes.
