Has Luis Enrique demanded PSG to sign Joao Felix instead of pursuing Bernardo Silva?
According to Relevo, the incoming PSG manager Luis Enrique has requested the recruitment of Joao Felix from the PSG brass. The Portugal international and Atletico Madrid forward has returned to his club following a loan at Chelsea, and he had already let his team know that he wants out.
However, Arthur Perrot RMC Sports provided conflicting information about the initial report regarding the interest of PSG and Enrique in Joao Felix on Friday.
According to Perrot, "PSG are not interested in the forward." That, of course, contrasts with the information obtained by Relevo speaking of Enrique's demands of PSG signing the former Chealse loanee and current Atletico Madrid player.
According to a recent report published by Relevo, Luis Enrique has "already made a request for a player to bolster his squad," and that player has been identified as Joao Felix. The 23-year-old is under contract with his current club through June 2027, making any potential transfer likely to come with a hefty price tag despite the involvement of his agent, Jorge Mendes, in the negotiations.
Reports from the Spanish press suggest that Joao Felix has already expressed his desire to leave Atletico Madrid once more this summer after he initially did last winter fostering a move (on loan) to Chelsea back then.
Last year, football insider Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that if Joao Felix were to leave Atletico Madrid, PSG would be the most obvious destination. There were tons of rumors about PSG actually trying to sign the Portugal international through the January transfer window, but the French club end up signing not one single player but then, let alone showing any interest in the Atletico Madrid forward.
It remains uncertain whether PSG are genuinely interested in securing the services of the forward. It is actually unknown whether or not Luis Enrique, QSI/Nasser Al-Khelaifi, both, or none of the parties involved with the French club are really interested in the young player.
Perhaps the connection and the relationship between Jorge Mendes and Luis Campos has something to do with this, or perhaps it has nothing to do with it at all.
PSG still need to bulk up their offensive depth ahead of next season, so don't rule out Joao Felix entirely until the transfer window closes or he gets moved elsewhere.
