Concerned about his team's recent defensive performance, PSG coach Christophe Galtier hopes to have a new central defender soon. As well as the replacement for Pablo Sarabia, who left for Wolverhampton a few days ago.

This Monday, Paris Saint-Germain will face the Pays de Cassel, a small northern team that plays in Regional 1, equivalent to the sixth division of France, in the Round of 32 of the French Cup.

Although victory should be a procedure, Christophe Galtier insisted on the importance of winning and being solid defensively, after two consecutive defeats away from home, in Ligue 1. And this same month of January, the Parisian coach would like to see a new piece strengthening his defense.

And the name that usually comes up in this position is Milan Skriniar. According to information from Foot Mercato, the Inter Milan player has two offers in hand, a contract renewal with his club, and that of PSG (which he seemingly favors and has agreed to sign next summer).

Galtier did not give details about it. “I saw what came out in the press. Will he come this month or next summer? I don't know, I have a lot to work on with my players to determine what needs to be fixed. But the sporting director and the president are working on what needs to be done,” he explained to the media.

PSG won't prioritize signing a striker to replace Pablo Sarabia

For now, the only winter move by the Parisian team has been the departure of Pablo Sarabia, who has gone to Wolverhampton of the English Premier League. Sarabia is (was?) an element that PSG want to replace quickly in this very transfer window.

“Before the transfer window opened on Jan. 1, I said that there would be arrivals only if there were departures. Pablo Sarabia left for the reasons we know. The club is working to have an additional offensive option coming to Paris”, assured Gatlier before joking about the details of the searched profile.

"We are looking for a winger, quite tall, who goes fast, who hits with both feet, and who is capable of scoring with his head."

Finally, when asked about hiring a different profile, that of a "pure striker", Christophe Galtier explained that it was not a priority.

"Considering we have Neymar, Mbappe, and Messi, we are not going to use a target man in the area. There are more combinations, balls dropping from behind, especially when crossing. There are clearly defined areas (we're capable of using and exploiting)."

Therefore, at least one arrival should be expected soon in Paris. We can only wait and see.
