Galtier after win over Angers: "We cannot be satisfied with this game"
PSG visited bottom dwellers Angers for MD32 of the Ligue 1 and defeated the virtually-relegated squad 2-1 on the road to earning three more points on the way to a historic 11th league title.
This was, as it's been the case for a while now, another boring win and performance overall by a team that is simply superior to all of their French competitors. Thus, the first-half effort (two goals for) and the ridiculous switch-off through the final 45 minutes (one game against).
Paris enjoyed a nice game by their two superstars, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, which is all PSG fans can look forward to watch on a weekly basis going forward as the only thing left on their horizon is basically those two breaking some individual records more than Paris Saint-Germain accomplishing anything.
The coach of PSG, Christophe Galtier, addressed the media after winning the easiest game left on PSG's schedule, this time at Angers on the road to start to wrap up another Ligue 1 title, in his post-game press conference. Here are the most interesting thoughts he shared.
Are you satisfied with the performance of your team?
"I am satisfied with the first period, as I was against Lens. I am not at all satisfied with the second, as against Lens. What is certain, when you are a PSG coach, you cannot be satisfied with this game. Is it score related? This is one of the reasons. We have to show another face. We have to fix it. We must want to continue to play, to be offensive. There are also people who come to see us play. To see the SCO but also the PSG."
So this is not enough?
"I don't know. Is there mental wear, with players over 50 games tonight? The physical plane matters. But the players are doing well according to the stats we have. There may be that, the fact of wanting to manage the result... But on the contrary, we must have fun, want to play. We need to have more fun. The players who play must show another face."
What do you think of Kylian Mbappe's brace?
"Kylian is a great competitor. He scores so the team can win. He has this obsession to break records, to always be the first. There is this title of champion but also that of top scorer in Ligue 1. It is made like that. He is a competitor. He was born for it and when he doesn't score, it hurts him."
Why didn't you make any changes between the 60th and the 88th minute?
"I see that the second period can switch to the wrong end. We conceded a goal in the 88th minute, we don't know how it happened. I always look for a balance to win matches. I spent a lot of time thinking about the changes. There were a lot of things I didn't like."
Will the end of the season be long with nothing to play for?
"We are not champions yet. We can say that it is done but no it is not done. Competitors still have to play tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. We have a point lead. It is a long and singular season. We must insist, I must insist that the team be more consistent."
