RB Leipzig faced Bayern Munich on MD6 of the German Bundesliga, setting the stage for an intriguing reunion between the former PSG coach, Thomas Tuchel, and his ex-player from Paris, Xavi Simons, who is currently on loan to RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season.

Tuchel, in a pre-match press conference, shared commendations for the Dutch talent, reflecting on Simons' early days with PSG: "I had Xavi Simons as a very young player in Paris. It was clear he had a lot of potential, he's extremely talented."

Discussing Simons' development, Tuchel acknowledged the challenges faced by the young talent in a formidable offensive line at PSG during his tenure.

Despite limited playing opportunities at that time, Tuchel recognized Simons' talent and affirmed that training at such a high level demonstrated his capabilities.

The German coach also emphasized the importance of goodwill, a touch of luck, and the right transfers at the right time in a player's journey. Reflecting on Simons' current phase at Leipzig, Tuchel praised his progress and acknowledged the positive impact of his stint in the Dutch championship while at PSV.

The coach shared some insights into the player's strengths and preferred position: "I think his best position is half winger, half 10, so he can be free. He is technically strong, calm with the ball, and very good in front of goal."

Tuchel finished his presser's comments on Simons by stating "It's a good thing for him [going on loan]."
