Arnau Tenas, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 as a backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma, recently opened up about his swift adaptation to life at the French club.

After arriving on a free transfer from FC Barcelona during the summer transfer window, Tenas, who has played six matches across all competitions for PSG, has found himself as the third-choice goalkeeper following the signing of Matvey Safonov.

Despite this, the Spanish Olympic champion has expressed his happiness and comfort at PSG, stating that he didn’t expect to feel so settled in such a short period.

In an interview with SER Catalunya, Tenas reflected on his departure from Barcelona, admitting that it was a difficult decision and one he hadn’t anticipated. He mentioned that he would have been willing to sign any contract to stay at his boyhood club, even considering a loan move if necessary, but he was never presented with an offer.

"I would have signed any contract. I would have stayed, and I was even ready to be loaned out if I didn't have a place in the first team. I don’t understand why it didn’t happen. I didn’t expect it. They didn’t put an offer on the table for me to say yes or no [...]"

This unexpected development came while he was away with the Spanish national team for the Euro Under-21 tournament, where he had to process the news in isolation, away from his teammates. Although the experience was emotionally challenging, Tenas explained that it strengthened him and helped him move forward with his career.

Despite the initial difficulty, Tenas has embraced life at PSG and feels fortunate to be part of the club. He acknowledged how well he has adapted to living in Paris, quickly learning the language and receiving strong support from the people around him. Tenas said:

" I didn’t expect to be so happy and at ease in such a short time. I love Paris. I’ve adapted very well, people have treated me kindly, and I learned the language very quickly."

Although he remains open to a potential return to Barcelona in the future, Tenas emphasized that he is extremely happy at PSG and is focused on continuing to grow with the club. If things continue to go well in Paris, he sees himself staying for the long term.
