Extension or departure for Harry Kane?
The future of Harry Kane is a hot topic of discussion this summer and L'Equipe provided a new nugget of information regarding what's next for the England international amid a supposed interest in signing the player by PSG and Bayern Munich.
The player wishes to join Bayern Munich, and if not the German giants, he and his family interests are leaning toward staying put in the British Islands instead of moving to another country such as France.
This stance has narrowed the possibilities of a departure to any other club not named Bayern to basically no alternative, considering Daniel Levy, Tottenham's chairman, does not want to sell his best player and England's best striker to any other Premier League club.
The problem for Tottenham, though, is one PSG know very well and are currently dealing with in Kylian Mbappe's and his soon-to-expire contract.
Kane's contract with Tottenham runs through June 2024, and he will be able to leave the London club for free a year from now, like Mbappe at PSG.
Interestingly, and according to L'Equipe, Kane has reportedly "assured Levy that he will not leave the club as a free agent in June 2024." Of course, that leaves just two options on his and Tottenham's table: either extend his contract or sign with Bayern Munich.
Knowing this, Bayern has reportedly "submitted a second offer worth €80m." However, the English club is "holding out for no less than €116m," informs L'Equipe. Levy is believed to be working on the framework of a new contract he is expected to offer Kane in the next few weeks in order to keep him in tow.
English media outlets are saying that Kane would not oppose that and could indeed favor an extension at Tottenham to finish his career at the London side if he gets presented with such an opportunity.
PSG are closely monitoring the situation and remain ready to make a move should Kane opt not to extend his contract, as pointed out by L'Equipe. However, it feels like the interest is not mutual so PSG will need to look into alternatives such as attempting the transfers of Dusan Vlahovic or Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani.
