El Chadaille Bitshiabu set to join RB Leipzig from PSG
PSG defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu is on the verge of joining RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga after both clubs agreed to terms on Wednesday and the player reached a deal with the German team on July 12.
The arrival of fellow defenders Milan Skriniar and Lucas Hernandez to bolster the defensive line, along with the struggles shown by the Academy product, left PSG with no option other than taking the money offered by Leipzig in order to get rid of the young defender for a rather large fee.
According to Fabrizio Romano's information, the transfer of the PSG central defender to RB Leipzig is expected to take place soon with all parties having agreed to a deal.
The agreement between the two clubs is nearly finalized, with negotiations in the final stages and a reported fee "in excess of €15m." Both Romano and L'Equipe are reporting that information, with the French newspaper quoting the final fee in the "€15m to €20m range."
However, neither Romano nor L'Equipe have leaked the terms of the player's contract with Leipzig. Something around a two- or three-year deal would make the most sense.
That said, there is a chance that Leipzig tries to secure the young defender (still 18 years old) for a longer period in the event of a future sale that allows the German club to maximize their leverage instead of having to negotiate with potential suitors under the pressure of losing Bitshiabu for free.
It is believed PSG explored and preferred to finalize a loan deal whether that was with Leipzig or another club, but given the lack of suitors interested in the player or that deal, or just the reasonably high fee Leipzig is willing to pay, the reigning French champions have decided to just cut all ties with the titi instead of waiting for longer.
