Following the Euro 2024 draw on Saturday, Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, shared his thoughts on Les Bleus group, consisting of the Netherlands, Austria, and a yet-to-be-determined play-off opponent.

Deschamps was not present in the draw as he underwent surgery and couldn't travel, but he watched from home to know about the rivals of his team when the ball gets rolling in Germany next summer.

Reflecting on Group D, which includes the Netherlands, Austria, and a play-off team (Poland, Wales, Finland, or Estonia), Deschamps spoke to TMC, saying "We're familiar with the Netherlands, having beaten them in both qualifier matchups.

"Their inclusion in Group D toughens the group, especially considering their stature among the top European nations. They came close to eliminating Argentina in the last World Cup."

Discussing Austria, the first opponent that France will face on June 17, Deschamps highlighted their athleticism above all other skills. Among the potential play-off teams, Deschamps pointed out Poland as the most experienced squad.

Despite acknowledging the difficulties the group will present to France, Deschamps emphasized the need for strategic planning to navigate the challenging fixtures while sounding relatively confident with regards to qualifying for the knockout stages.
