Following Paris Saint-Germain's match against Newcastle in the Champions League (1-1), Daniel Riolo shifts his focus to Bradley Barcola.
The collective performance of PSG did not leave a standout impression for some, despite expectations following the defeat to AC Milan in the fourth round of the Champions League. Despite numerous opportunities generated, with a value of 4.5xG, the club struggled to capitalize against Newcastle.
The lack of efficiency in the final touch led players to rely on a miraculous penalty in the last minute to salvage a draw. This situation has created some tension among PSG's fanbase.
In the tradition following a PSG defeat, there arises the need to point fingers at someone as the culprit. While the name of Kylian Mbappe has been mentioned several times in the press and among fans, Daniel Riolo points to another culprit: Bradley Barcola.
The 21-year-old forward was particularly active on the left side, creating several opportunities for PSG but failing to capitalize on them. Riolo highlights three significant missed actions in front of the goal that he criticizes harshly for RMC:
"The responsible one is not him; it's Luis Enrique because he thinks the guy is capable of playing in the Champions League when it was enough to open your eyes to see that he's a lamb. We're talking about the Champions League; he can't behave like he did!"
Riolo attributes part of the responsibility to the coach, Luis Enrique, for overestimating Barcola's abilities in the European competition.
