A week after losing the Coupe De France to Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain Feminine will hope to secure a win against the League leaders and stay in contention for the D1 Arkema with only one game remaining after this weekend's matchup against OL.
This is PSG's last chance of claiming any honors to their name this season, and only a win against Lyon will keep their hope for a trophy alive until the final matchday of the season.
Pre-match Information
PSG last 5 matches : L, D, W, W, D
Lyon last 5 matches : W, W, W, W, L
Previous league meetings (last 3 seasons)
PSG: 4W, 1D, 9L
Lyon: 9W, 1D, 4L
Last meeting in D1 Arkema
Lyon 0-1 PSG
PSG and Lyon are the only D1 teams to give each other a loss this season, with all their other losing games coming in the UEFA Champions League.
Lyon's only loss in D1 Arkema came against PSG when Kadidiatou Diani netted the winner in December.
PSG haven't lost a single game in the league, managing 16 wins and four draws on their way to their current second-place position in the standings.
Lyon are currently on 55 points, while PSG are on 52. A win for Lyon would earn them the title, and even a draw would be benefical for them depending on last week's results.
Even if PSG are victorious on Sunday, they would still have to wait for the completion of the season one week from now. PSG would jump into first position because of their head-to-head goal difference against Lyon, but PSG would still need to match whatever result Lyon get in the final matchday to claim the D1 title.
Despite being a close scoreline in the Cup final, Paris Saint-Germain winning that game always seemed a bit far-fetched. While they were able to retain possession of the ball and also to recover it quickly at times, nothing from them could have changed the outcome as PSG clearly lacked punch.
A win is vital for the squad to win a trophy and save the season so a much-improved performance will be required this weekend.
PSG's biggest concern currently is netting goals. In the last two months, they have managed only to score just one goal per winning game, and while that worked against teams such as Guingamp and Bordeaux, the issue has been fully exposed against more competitive opponents such as Lyon and Paris FC.
PSG will host Lyon at the Parc Des Princes on Sunday evening, hoping they can pull off something remarkable.
PSG Post Prediction
PSG 0-1 Lyon
After a correct prediction from us last week for the Coupe De France (2-1), the belief in this score probability is relatively high.
While there is the hope PSG will have a better game than their last few having learned from their past errors, judging by how the game played out for both sides during the final I don't think Gerad Precheur's side will be able to get three points against OL.
Therefore, Lyon will win the First Division title this Sunday, leaving PSG looking at an empty season in the 2022/23 campaign and hoping to get better results next year.
While PSG Feminine could be losing out on their league title, the men's team might win theirs simultaneously against Auxerre if they earn more points than second-place Lens on Sunday evening.
Big day for both Paris Saint-Germain sides, and one to maybe celebrate PSG inching closer to (at least) one more title!
