Breaking: PSG and Mallorca reach agreement for the transfer of Kang-In Lee
The long-awaited transfer of South Korea international Kang-In Lee from Mallorca to PSG is set to be finalized in the upcoming hours after both clubs reached an agreement for the transfer of the Asian player on Tuesday, July 4.
The transfer fee, reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca will amount to €17m after many twists and turns in the negotiations through the last few days and weeks between both top-flight clubs.
Marca, though, makes it clear that while Mallorca will receive that fee, the full operation will cost PSG more money, in fact, it is quoted at a total price of €22m with 20% of the amount going straight to the player after a week full of negotiations.
According to the sources feeding Marca, that percentage was negotiated by Lee himself, who waived a transfer bonus when he joined Mallorca from fellow Spanish side Valencia on a free transfer back in 2021.
It is unclear whether or not PSG will have to pay more money in bonuses, but Marca revealed that in addition to the €17m going to Mallorca, both teams have agreed to organize a friendly match between them at Son Moix, the renovated stadium of Mallorca, once and after the construction work is completed by Jan. 2024.
In an interesting turn of events, this friendly will also mark the return of Marco Asensio (who will join PSG from Real Madrid this summer as a free agent) to his former team serving as a homecoming for Kang-In Lee.
According to Marca, Lee has already passed his medical tests with PSG and is expected to travel to Paris later this week in order to complete the transfer by signing a contract at PSG.
