Breaking: Luis Enrique expected to be hired as PSG next manager

The bomb has dropped on a random Sunday when nobody was paying attention to the headlines: PSG is on the verge of appointing Spanish manager Luis Enrique as their head coach for the 2023/24 season and beyond according to Telefoot.

In a live broadcast, French media outlet Telefoot broke the news of Luis Enrique having already entered negotations with PSG in order to be hired as the next manager of the capital club.

According to the information obtained by Telefoot, Luis Enrique and PSG will enter the week aiming at having more precise discussions and wrapping up the deal that will make him the next head coach of Paris Saint-Germain following Christophe Galtier's sacking next week.

Portuguese outlet A Bola reported yesterday that PSG had been following fellow Iberian Sergio Conceicao in order to see how feasible would be to appoint the current manager of FC Porto (previous payment of a release clause quoted at €18m). The news broke on Saturday when it was believed that the manager met the brass of PSG, though that meeting was later denied by the same outlet A Bola.

Luis Enrique lastly managed the Spain senior national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup and has been considered one of the leading candidates to take over the PSG head coach position for a long time.

PSG would be Luis Enrique's fourth team, with his prior experience in a top-flight division tracking all the way back to his days at Barcelona in 2017 where he won multiple La Liga and Copa del Rey titles along with the 2014-15 Champions League. He managed at Roma and Celta before getting the job at Barcelona.

No announcement is expected until PSG finally makes the departure of Galtier official through next week, but once that is out of the way it is believed that it will take no time for PSG to announce the hiring of their new manager, presumably Luis Enrique if Telefoot got their information and sources right.
