Match Report
Despite a disappointing performance the prior week against Lyon in the Trophee Des Championnes, PSG came with confidence and determination in this game, which paid off as they were by far the much better side.
Gerard Precheur made a few changes from his last line-up, such as Constance Picaud being placed in goal for the first time since her return from France duty, a 4-3-3 formation, and also the selection of Mansitta Traore, which seems due to the unavailability of Viola Calligaris.
It took 31 minutes for PSG to get off the mark as a foul on Lieke Martens resulted in a penalty for the Parisians. Sakina Karchaoui was chosen to take the opportunity and did just that as she slotted the ball into the net.
Just two minutes later, Karchaoui's pass found Sandy Baltimore, who was in front of the goal when the ball found her foot and she then without any difficulty, put her side up 2-0.
And then three minutes after that, Grace Geyoro was able to celebrate her new contract extension, which includes an extra four years to her current deal, as her fellow Frenchwoman Karchaoui gave her the chance to get her name on the scoresheet, and that captain Geyoro did.
With all of that going on in the first half, the second portion was quieter as PSG did not add any more goals to the scoreline but weren't troubled by Bordeaux either.
75 minutes was a big moment for PSG supporters and the club, as Marie-Anoinette Katoto was brought on for the first time in a very long time. Katoto, who missed the whole of last season due to an ACL injury, has finally made her much-awaited return to the pitch, and PSG will surely be glad to have their star No. 9 back in the squad.
After the first day of the D1Arkema, Paris Saint-Germain sits on third place, with Lyon in first and Paris FC in second, with both clubs winning their games 4-0.
Matchday two holds quite the game for PSG, as they must prepare to take on Lyon and fight for their three points. This matchup is scheduled for the 1st, October.
