Despite no official confirmation yet, PSG are believed to be on the verge of signing Benfica midfielder and Italy U20-international Cher Ndour on a free transfer. Benfica's president Rui Costa has confirmed the departure of the talented midfielder from the Portuguese club, paving the way for him to join PSG next.

Just six days into the summer transfer window, PSG has been highly active in the market having signed (yet not announced) Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Milan Skriniar, and Kang-In Lee. Young talent Cher Ndour is next in line by the looks of it.

Ndour's contract with Benfica has come to an end, and the club failed to reach an agreement with the prospect to keep him in tow. After such an atrocious mistake, PSG lost no time and jumped all over a magnificent occasion to land a top-tier youngster projected to become a world-renowned midfielder in a few years.

It's believed that some English Premier League clubs were also interested in the player, though it appears that the 18-year-old midfielder is set to join PSG, as reported by A Bola a few days ago. Rui Costa, the president of Benfica, confirmed Ndour's departure while addressing the club's supporters on Friday.

When asked about Ndour's departure, Rui Costa expressed his desire to keep the talented player, revealing that Benfica made a substantial offer to convince Ndour to stay. The club ultimately understood that the player's ambitions were never going to have him sign with his now-former club, though, as he aims to reach further heights than those Benfica can offer him on a pure sporting basis.

Rui Costa stated his preference for players who truly embraced the spirit of Benfica, as opposed to those who tried to impose unrealistic contract demands. Ndour doesn't seem to fit that model, thus the exit.
