Ayman Kari joins Lorient on loan for six-to-18 months
Even though PSG failed to land a single player through the winter transfer window, the Parisian found a way to get rid of a few players on loan. One of them is Ayman Kari, who will spend the remainder of the season on loan at FC Lorient of the French Ligue 1.
While Keylor Navas got loaned to Nottingham Forest for five months with no further options to extend his deal, Lorient will have the option to extend Kari's loan until the end of the 2023-24 season.
A Paris native from the Ivry-sur-Seine suburb, Kari joined PSG at the ripe of 11. The midfielder moved to the club's academy after convincing the staff he was more talented than all kids playing at his level.
Ayman Kari was named 2021 Titi D'Or at PSG, will spend the next six-to-18 months on loan at Lorient
Kari started his Parisian youth tenure on the U17 side before establishing himself as a weekly starter on the U19 squad.
Coached by PSG legend Zoumana Camara, Kari made 25 appearances in the French U19 league, seven more in the UEFA Youth League, and three in the Coupe Gambardella (underage French Cup) during the 2021-22 season for a combined 35 apps last year while on the youth teams of PSG.
Kari was named 2021 Titi d’Or (PSG Academy Player of the Year) by the Titis du PSG association. That added to Kari's resume, who had already debuted with the U19 France international team then.
This season, Kari became part of the "Elite" group of youngsters to train regularly with the first team of PSG, even while still aged 18.
That said, he was limited to play with the PSG U19 side this season, having helped the team to qualify for the UEFA Youth League Round of 16 contributing three assists in five games.
Here's hoping Kari has a good spell at Lorient while he spends time playing away on the Ligue 1 club for the next six-to-18 months, depending on Lorient's decision on their option to extend the deal past this summer.
