Things are escalating quickly in the capitals. Yes, capitals with an "s," as we're talking about both Paris and Madrid. Atletico Madrid is tracking the ongoing situation involving the upset French defender Presnel Kimpembe in Paris after getting removed from the vice-captain role last Monday.

After Christophe Galtier did not let all of his players know about his decision to the four-man captain-army to Presnel Kimpembe earlier this season and strip him of the armband in favor of Kylian Mbappe, the defender went on a rant on IG to clarify the situation on his own.

Kimpembe is a bit mad at his coach at PSG and might be looking into moving away from the French capital if things don't change.

While it is true that Kimpembe won't reach the end of his contract with PSG until Jun. 2024, conversations about an extension have stalled of late between both parties. There have been talks, yes, although there is still nothing concrete nor set in stone at this point in time.

Presnel Kimpembe (27) is obviously very close to Paris Saint-Germain, the club he has always trained at and where he turned into a professional footballer. Despite his attachment to PSG, though, the possibility of leaving in the summer of 2023 is something to consider a possibility with just 18 months left in his deal, according to Le Parisien.

The French newspaper has revealed that Atletico Madrid has tracked the defender for a few months. The ongoing drama between him and his coach could foster a potential bid to land the France international in Madrid next summer.

The Madrid-based club intends to strengthen its defense for next season, and they would try to certify the hiring of the Parisian defender during the coming summer with the PSG leader perhaps looking for a way out of the club that might no longer love him as much as they once did in the past.
