Paris Saint-Germain's Ashley Lawrence looks set to leave the French capital on her way to joining English giants Chelsea this summer, with her contract almost coming to an end at PSG and a deal with CFC nearing an agreement between both parties.

The Canadian right-back has spent her professional European career with PSG and she has been one of the club's most beloved players to date. Lawrence has surely given all that love back throughout his tenure at PSG, too.

Even though Lawrence or the club hasn't confirmed a departure, she will likely be playing her last game with the side on the final matchday of the league season this weekend, as many outlets have reported her exit from Paris is close to becoming a reality.

According to Le Parisien, the race for her signature is over, and she has indeed chosen Chelsea as her next destination ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Further details on the deal between Lawrence and Chelsea

There aren't many details revealed thus far, but as claimed by Nizaar Kinsella, there are a few things already known about this upcoming transfer.

Lawrence would be joining Chelsea on a three-year contract keeping her in London until June 2026.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were also attempting a move for Ashley but have lost out. Barcelona was also said to be interested but haven't been able to convince her, most probably because of a lower financial effort because of their issues on that front.

It is unknown if PSG considered offering her a new contract, or even if they will do so in the next few days and weeks before she turns into a free agent and hits the open market.

Either Lawrence made clear she would like to move on, and Paris complied with her decision, or the club just decided they would not start any negotiations for the defender for now and are willing to wait to know what type of market emerges for the services of their defender, thus giving them a better idea of how much money and years she might demand.

In any case, it's pretty disappointing that PSG are not fully invested in keeping Lawrence around as she has been one of PSG's best players over their journey together.

As things stand, it looks like Lawrence and Chelsea will be announcing their new partnership in the coming months once the season ends and Ashley's contract officially ends with the Parisian club.
