RB Leipzig have decided not to exercise the option to purchase Abdou Diallo from PSG for an estimated fee of €20m following the expiration of his loan deal. The Senegalese defender will therefore return to PSG this summer, where he still has one year left on his contract.

A plethora of players loaned out by Paris Saint-Germain last summer will follow the same path back to France.

Starting with Diallo, the Senegal international will return to the French capital, where he only has one year left on his contract. “Thank you for this year together and for your commitment, Abdou. We wish you the best", said RB Leipzig in a statement announcing the departure of the loanee.

The defender injured his knee and was absent from the pitch for three months, from January to March. Diallo has played just 15 games this season, including 42 minutes since he returned from injury at the end of March. The Senegalese can still boast having added a DFB Pokal to his list of honors, although he did not play in the final.

Multiple players will return to PSG with expired loan deals

Diallo is not the only one who will return to Paris. Leandro Paredes, on loan at Juventus with a purchase option estimated at €22.6m, will do the same as the Italian club did not want to exercise the option in question. The midfielder has not shone at all at Juve, although PSG will be looking for a way out for him considering he still has one year left in his deal.

Another player who will also return from Italy is Georginio Wijnaldum. Loaned to AS Roma with an estimated €8m purchase option, the Dutchman is also expected to return to Paris. However, the Serie A club has not completely ruled out the possibility of keeping him, with an offer possibly hitting the PSG offices in the weeks to come.

Mauro Icardi could also report to PSG in the coming weeks, but the former Inter player is not short of suitors. The Argentinian striker shone during his loan at Galatasaray, and he has some interesting options.

Keylor Navas will return from Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League, but there is no guarantee that he will stay next season, even though he only has one year left on his contract.

Colin Dagba will also do the same after his loan in Strasbourg. Layvin Kurzawa (Fulham) and Julian Draxler (Benfica), both injured, will also return to PSG. The latter two also have only one year left on their contract.
