1. Kylian Mbappe

The top goalscorer of the 2022 World Cup, Mbappe has been named the most important person in the French football scene for the 2022 year by L'Equipe.

Mbappe is clearly the leader of the France national team, and he showed it in the best final ever played in the biggest of tournaments, not to mention in Qatar where QSI, the owners of PSG, are based.

Not only did Mbappe lead France to another final and the penalty shootout against Argentina, but his decision to re-sign with PSG and extend his stance in the French capital of Paris also heightened his view in France as a mainstay and true leader of the current generation of French football, improving the sport in the country.

Mbappe has been critical of FFF president Noel Le Graet recently after his remarks about Zinedine Zidane, fostering his exit from the French Federation a few days ago. He lifted the World Cup in 2018 as a teenager and reached another final last December in the 2022 edition of the tournament scoring the most goals (8) with France.

His extension with PSG, until 2025 with an option to extend that deal one more season, earned him a monster €600M+ all things considered, spanning three years, between salaries and bonuses.

By opting to remain in Paris, Mbappe wishes to win the Champions League for the capital club along with teammates Neymar and Lionel Messi, who also dream of achieving the feat at PSG.
