Luis Enrique and his squad are now set for a showdown against one of the competition’s elite: Barcelona or Liverpool, two of the tournament’s strongest contenders.

Paris Saint-Germain is set to face FC Liverpool in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. The English giants ended the league phase at the top of the standings after a stellar campaign, securing seven wins in eight games. The Merseyside team who is a heavy favourite in the competition is led by Mo Salah, the Egyptian who is having a fantastic season has been linked to a move to PSG amidst contract extension argument with his club.
The journey to the Round of 16 has been challenging for Les Parisiens, but Luis Enrique and his squad delivered a spectacular finish to the league phase. With statement victories over Manchester City and Stuttgart, they secured 15th place in the standings in style.
It will be the first encounter between these two sides since the 2018/2019 Champions League, a campaign that saw Liverpool lift the trophy for the sixth time in their history. Both teams met in the group stage of the competition, each securing victory in their respective home fixtures.
The first-leg of the Round of 16 will be played at the Parc des Princes either on the 4th or 5th of March and the second-leg will take place a week later, on March 11th or 12th at Anfield. If the French champions qualify, they will face-off against the winner of the Aston Villa vs Club Brugge match-up in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Les Rouges et Bleus could then face Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, PSV or Arsenal if they qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
The final of the 2024/2025 Champions League campaign will take place in Munich at the Allianz Arena on the 31st of May.
