Paris Saint-Germain remain unbeaten in Ligue 1 after 3-1 victory against Lyon

Paris Saint-Germain took down Lyon 3-1 at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 15 of the Ligue 1 McDonald's. Goals from Dembélé, Vitinha and Gonçalo Ramos secured Paris' victory as they now sit seven points ahead of Marseille and Monaco at the top of the table.

Coming off a crucial 3-0 Champions League victory against RB Salzburg mid-week, Paris Saint-Germain is hosting Olympique Lyonnais for the last game of 2024 at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 15 of the Ligue 1 McDonald's.

Earlier, Luis Enrique unveiled his squad ahead of the game with Milan Skriniar, Presnel Kimpembe and Randal Kolo Muani being left out of the group. The announcement seemed to seal Skriniar and Kolo Muani's future at the club as they are looking for an exit of the club.

The Spanish tactitian operated to some changes in the starting line-up for this game with club captain Marquinhos taking place on the bench while Ousmane Dembélé made his return in the starting XI.

PSG's starting line-up: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Beraldo, Pacho, Nuno Mendes; Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery, Vitinha; Ousmane Dembélé, Doué, Lee Kang-In.

Lyon's starting line-up: Lucas Perri; Maitland-Niles, Mata, Niakhaté, Tagliafico; Matic, Veretout, Tolisso; Cherki, Mikautadze, Nuamah.

Paris take Lyon down 3-1 and go seven point clear at the top of the league

Paris took complete control of the game inside the first five minutes of the game, creating chances from the wings through Hakimi and Doué.

PSG's opener came from the latter following a great move, the former Rennes player delivered a cross to Ousmane Dembélé who scored his sixth goal of the season from close range (8'). Just minutes later, Tolisso gave away a penalty to the hosts following a foul on Doué. Vitinha stepped up and doubled Paris' lead (14').

The game kept the same dynamic for the following 15 minutes, with Luis Enrique's players overwhelmingly controlling the ball and Lyon sitting deep waiting for counterattacks opportunities.

However, very few came as Lyon failed to register a shot after 35 minutes. Nonetheless, out of nowhere, Mikautadze reduced OL's deficit (40') thanks to a wonderful assist from Ryan Cherki, giving hope to Pierre Sage's squad before half-time.

Zaire-Emery came close to score Paris' third goal of the evening after Lyon lost the ball in front of their box but Perri pulled up an amazing save after the shot was deflected (50'). With 30 minutes left, Luis Enrique operated to three substitutions, as Barcola, Marquinhos and Hernandez made their appearances, replacing Beraldo, Lee Kang-In and Nuno Mendes (62').

The second act of the game saw Lyon becoming more dangerous creating more opportunities through counters. Just as the game was ending, Barcola missed a golden opportunity to score his 11th goal this season.

However, Gonçalo Ramos definitely put the game to bed as he followed up on Perri's save to put the ball in the back of the net (88').

Following two consecutive draws, Paris's victory against Lyon put them seven points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 McDonald's table. Up next, Les Rouges et Bleus will travel to Monaco for a mid-week clash between two teams challenging for the title.
