PSG legend Thiago Silva, who is now playing for Fluminense in the Brasileirao sat with French news outlet Carré, taking this opportunity to reflect on his eight years at the club, while sharing his feelings on the new era begun by the club this season.

After a 16-year career in Europe where he won many trophies, including a Champions League with Chelsea, the Brazilian made the choice to go back where it all started for him in Fluminense. However, the 40-year-old centre-back who now possess both French and Brazilian nationality will never forget his time in France and with Paris Saint-Germain where he spent eight years of his career.

'O Monstro' reaffirms his love for PSG

" It represents a lot for me", said Silva. "It was the club where I played the most, it was the city that I loved dearly. I think that the fans also liked to see Thiago Silva play with the PSG shirt on. I remember, the first Champions League game at the Parc des Princes where I had the opportunity to score, the fans this day, it was magnificent. It was an unforgettable day for me, for my family and I think that the club is in my heart and it is going to stay that way for the rest of my life."

The Brazilian then recalled one of his favourite moments at the club that he loved, his last game played for PSG, that came in the Champions League final lost by the team against Bayern Munich in 2020, a bittersweet moment that stayed engraved in his memory.

" It's crazy because my favourite and worse moment is the Champions League final. It's crazy, but it is this moment. We reached the final, our dream is there, and we lose the final, which was the worst moment for me and it was my last game with this jersey. I didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans as well, because of the pandemic."

He then shared his feelings on the new direction taken by the club, aiming to create stars instead of buying them as they did in his time.

" Of course, I like to watch their games, I try to watch every games, because it is wonderful what they did to this point. But I think that all the big names they brought in at the beginning were important to give the club the image that they have today and all they did shouldn't be forgotten. They successfully started the project and a good image is important.

" They changed the mentality, they are now build up their own stars, to make the team progress. I think that at the moment it works very well. I am really happy to see the team play like that, because collectively they are really strong. When you watched them play it is not just one player that makes the difference anymore. Of course, there is Dembélé but outside of that, the team is well structured, they have a great goalkeeper, two very good full-backs and the wingers, it is a complete team. That doesn't rely on just one or two players, which makes me happy because it is not easy to build a team like that."

The legendary Brazilian centre-back then ended his interview sending his best wishes to the team ahead of the Champions League final against Inter Milan on May 31.

" Come on guys, I am very proud of you ! Of every thing that you did this season. Best of luck, the opportunity is here, it just needs to be taken. Good luck and good game."
