Paris secured 13th Ligue 1 title with 1-0 win over Angers

Luis Enrique's team clinched their 13th Ligue 1 title as they took down relegation-threatened side Angers 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 28.

Despite an overwhelming domination in terms of ball possession, Luis Enrique's side failed to create much danger on Angers' goal inside the first 20 minutes of the game against a well-organised opponent. Though the Parisians remained in complete control of the game, the visitors became increasingly more dangerous in the first half, creating various counter-attacking opportunities.

Vitinha came close to open the score for the hosts, but saw his impressive long-range effort be saved by Fofana who kept his side level with Paris.

10 minutes into the second half, Désiré Doué opened the score for his side on a cross from Kvaratskhelia and after a remarkable collective move (55'), to bring Paris closer to their 13th Ligue 1 title.

After numerous substitutions, the intensity of the game understandably dropped in the last half hour of the game, though Paris' domination over the game never wavered. Their next Champions League game against Unai Emery's Villa was certainly already weighing on PSG players' mind.

Luis Enrique and his players will now aim to keep their invincible record across the season and have six games left to play to make history and become the first French club to do so.

Up next, Paris Saint-Germain will host Aston Villa and Unai Emery, former PSG coach at the Parc des Princes for their crucial Champions League quarterfinal first-leg on April 9.
