Luis Enrique and his side open their season with the European Super Cup against Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspurs in Udine.

PSG take down Tottenham in European Super Cup

Trailing by two goals, Paris Saint-Germain completed a late comeback thanks to goals from substitutes Kang-In Lee and Gonçalo Ramos. The Champions League winners then claimed the Super Cup trophy after a nervy penalty shootout (4-3).

As Paris Saint-Germain played their first game since the Club World Cup final, Thomas Frank's Tottenham had a solid start against Luis Enrique's team. Though both side failed to create any clear cut chances in the first 20 minutes of the game, it was Richarlison's long range effort that put Lucas Chevalier to the test in his first game for PSG.

Despite their high ball possession, the European Champions had tremendous difficulty to create danger on Vicario, facing a very well-organised Tottenham side in the first half, which was combined to their lack of fitness as they only returned to training this week.

After 39 minutes, it was Micky Van de Ven who fired Tottenham in the lead following a free-kick. Despite Chevalier's amazing first save, the French international could nothing as Van de Ven followed the rebound off the post to open the scoring.

Both sides went into the halftime break with Tottenham in the lead despite Paris' great control of the ball.

Just three minutes into the second half, the Spurs doubled their lead thanks to Romero's header following Porro's well taken free-kick (48').

With less than six minutes left in the game, Kang-In Lee long range strike brought hopes of a comeback to PSG as they have been increasing their pressure on the Spurs in the last 15 minutes (84'). Gonçalo Ramos' header completed PSG's incredible comeback in the dying embers of the game after Dembélé's cross and sent the game to penalties (90+3').

Up next, Paris Saint-Germain will face FC Nantes on the road to open their Ligue 1 campaign on Sunday, August 17.
