Kang-In Lee, PSG's unsung hero

After a very successful 2024-2025 season where the team realised the greatest season of its history, Luis Enrique and his side are facing a challenging period amid an injury crisis that doesn't seem to end.

In the middle of it all, one player appeared as one of the most reliable figure of the squad, Kang-In Lee. The South Korean who was close to leave in the summer as quietly become a key player for Luis Enrique and PSG this season.

Following a difficult season where his role was considerably reduced last season, the former Mallorca player as stepped up following the many injuries within the squad. His impressive versatility allow him to feature at numerous positions of Luis Enrique's system with the same efficiency whether it is as a defensive midfielder, winger and advance playmaker. The South Korean is the perfect player to feat into this tactical setup.

He is the perfect connector as his ability to drop between lines, press intelligently, and carry the ball at pace stabilises PSG in transitions. Even though, he doesn't have flashy numbers with the club, having contributed to only one goal and one assist across 15 games this season, he is one of the most important player of this squad when it comes to keep the ball under pressure, creating second assists high recoveries and facilitating movement for the stars of the squad.

Because of all these different attributes, Luis Enrique refused to let him go in the summer when several clubs tried to poach him off the club and gave him his trust, complimenting him on his intelligence on the pitch. Which is why he has been the first called up to the starting XI when some of the stars got injured in midfield.

Despite all his qualities, he remains highly undervalued by the fans and observers of the club due to having to compete against some of the best players in European football at their respective positions, taking away most of his minutes on the pitch when they are all fit as well as the media attention. Nonetheless, his contributions impact PSG's structure more than many of the big names of the squad.
