With only two games left in the competition, the 2026 World Cup is about to reach its conclusion with the Third place game between France and England and the final between Fabian Ruiz's Spain and Argentina.
Five PSG players were included in Didier Deschamps' 26-men squad for the tournament with Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, Warren Zaire-Emery and Lucas Hernandez. While the three forwards were important pieces of the team, the PSG Academy graduate and the former Bayern Munich player struggled to get minutes throughout the tournament, with Hernandez being one of the only two outfield players that failed to make an appearance so far with France legend N'Golo Kanté. Zaire-Emery made only one appearance in the quarter-final against Achraf Hakimi's Morocco.
However, the third place game is the perfect opportunity to see players who didn't get much minutes on the pitch throughout the tournament. Many fans and observers were disappointed to see Warren Zaire-Emery ride the bench throughout the competition following his impressive 2025-2026 campaign with PSG.
Hopefully, Lucas Hernandez will also have an oppotunity to feature as his last appearance at a World Cup was in 2022 when he suffered another ACL injury in the group stage.
Which PSG players will feature in the 2026 World Cup third-place game against England?
Now with Didier Deschamps set to take part in his last game as France's head coach, he will be looking to win this game to leave on a high note. Therefore, there will be a balance between satifying players who did not get minutes throughout the tournament and the will to field a competitive side to win the game.
For this game, many changes are expected, therefore, the chances to see Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola start are quite slim as they were important elements of the squad in their run to the semi-finals. With Arsenal's William Saliba's injury, we will certainly see either Lucas Hernandez or his brother start as left-back while Ibrahim Konaté and Maxence Lacroix start in the heart of the defence.
In midfield, both Warren Zaire-Emery and N'Golo Kanté should start and support Rayan Cherki, Maghnes Akliouche, Marcus Thuram and Kylian Mbappé. The former PSG superstar is currently in the 2026 World Cu Golden Boot race tied with Lionel Messi at eight goals. He could become the first player ever to be the top scorer at two different World Cups.
