Gianluigi Donnarumma has been left out of PSG's squad as they are set to face Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspurs in the European Super Cup on August 13.
The Italy international goalkeeper has been unable to found a common ground with Paris Saint-Germain while his contract is set to expire in June 2026. Therefore, his exclusion from the Champions League winners' squad ahead of this game is a strong signal that his time at the club may soon come to an end.

According to several reports, the former AC Milan shot-stopper has no plan to extend his contract at the club and the club now intends to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next summer. In recent weeks, many outlets reported an interest from numerous clubs such as Manchester United or Galatasaray eager to sign the 26-year-old who is coming off an excellent season with PSG as they won the first treble of its history.

Overall, Donnarumma made 161 appearances with the club across four seasons and played an intrumental role as PSG had their greatest season ever and lifted the Champions League for the first time.
As the negotiations for a contract renewal with Donnarumma stalled, Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos quickly turned their interest towards securing the arrival of a new goalkeeper, signing French international Lucas Chevalier from Lille to replace the Italian between the posts.
Lucas Chevalier set to make his PSG debut
Recently signed by the club, the highly rated 23-year-old is now set to make his debut with PSG in the UEFA European Super Cup, a high stake game to open their 2025-2026 campaign. Chevalier impressed last season as he was named best goalkeeper in Ligue 1.

The former Lille goalkeeper has proved to be a reliable player in the last few seasons while also perfectly fitting with PSG's new recruitment strategy, which aims to sign young talented players and tunr them into star at the club, following in the footsteps of Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué.
Nonetheless, Chevalier will have a lot of pressure on his shoulders as he will officially become Paris Saint-Germain's new starting goalkeeper.
