Earlier this week, Paris Saint-Germain received a massive double injury boost as Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembélé both made their return to team training ahead of the Champions League final against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
However, it seems that the Gunners received an important injury boost of their own as Jurrien Timber finally came back to first team training after his long injury, just three days before the big final. The Premier League champions already lost Ben White after his season-ending injury and are lacking a real option at the right-back position with only Christian Mosquera able to feature there.
Therefore seeing the Dutchman return into the fold three days before the Champions League final could be a crucial reinforcement for Mikel Arteta and his team. His return could actually make them feel much more confident with him back.
Could Jurrien Timber make his return to the starting lineup for the final?
Now the real question would be wether or not Timber would be able to start the game and most importantly if he would be at 100 per cent of his abilities. His mission in this game would be to stop or at least slow down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger has been on a tear in the knockout stage of the Champions, being decisive at every game against some of the best teams in Europe.
In total, he scored 10 goals and delivered six assists in 15 games and he proved to be one of the most unstopable players in the world. It will leave to the right-back chosen by Mikel Arteta an incredibly difficult task.
In their last encounters in the competition, Paris had the upper hand and dominated the Gunners in the semi-finals on their way to a historical victory and in both occasions, Timber has had tremendous difficulties to stop Kvaratskhelia. This matchup could be the one deciding the tie for the Gunners who have one of the best defence in the world when all their players are in form.
Overall, Jurrien Timber's return could be crucial for the Gunners as they have a chance to win their first-ever European trophy, 20 years after losing to Barcelona in the Champions League final. As for PSG, they see a player that could either be a liability or the key for his team to stop them from winning their second consecutive Champions League title.
