The international break is over, with club football resuming this weekend. The biggest surprise of the international break was Italy's failure to qualify for a third successive time, following their playoff final loss to Bosnia on penalties. France gave a good account of themselves this international break with commendable wins over Brazil (2-1) and Colombia (3-1).

Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Gonçalo Ramos (Portugal) were unbeaten in their two games against Mexico (0-0) and the USA (0-2). Meanwhile, Illia Zabarnyi (Ukraine) and Matvey Safonov (Russia) won't be at the World Cup as their countries did not qualify. Other PSG players aren't guaranteed their place in their country's World Cup squad but didn't do themselves any harm after this international break.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss the PSG players who increased their chances of making their nation's World Cup squad after this international break.

Three French PSG stars who boosted their World Cup chances

Warren Zaire-Emery

The midfield prodigy did not feature in France's first game against South American giants Brazil, which would have dented his confidence as he knows that he probably won't be a starter for Les Bleus. Zaire-Emery used that to spur him on in the second game as he linked up well with N'golo Kante in the second game against Colombia. The 20-year-old has given himself more of a chance of making the World Cup squad, as Deschamps only used Camavinga for 26 minutes across the two games, which signals that he is not high up in the pecking order.

Lucas Hernandez

Lucas Hernandez will be desperate to make France's World Cup squad, as he was injured for the previous World Cup in Qatar. He played 90 minutes in France's second game of the international break (against Colombia), in which he didn't do his World Cup chances much harm. Hernandez made crucial clearances when needed despite being at fault for Colombia's goal. If he can stay fit, he has the chance to double his World Cup medal tally in the summer. What works in Hernandez's favour is his ability to play left back when called upon.

Désiré Doué

Désiré Doué has strong competition for a place in France's World Cup squad as Les Bleus arguably have the best attack in the world. Didier Deschamps can call upon the likes of Rayan Cherki, Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé, and Michael Olise. Doué did not do his chances of making the World Cup squad any harm. In the game against Brazil, he put in a steady performance despite coming on in the 66th minute. He followed this up with an impressive brace against Colombia.
