3 main talking points as Marquinhos' late goal secured a draw for PSG

Just one day after the 2026-2027 Champions League draw, Paris Saint-Germain was facing Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, a game that ended on a dramatic 2-2 draw as PSG came back from a two-goal deficit in the last five minutes of the game in added time.

The Parisians had to do without Ousmane Dembélé as the 2025 Ballon d'Or was rested by Luis Enrique and will come back on Monday. In the first two games of the league season, the Parisians have failed to secure a win, leaving fans with many fans.

Three main talking point as PSG came back from a two-goal deficit

1- Still no victory for PSG this season

After two Ligue 1 games, Paris Saint-Germain, the defending Champions have failed to secure a victory to open the season. Moreover, the team led by Luis Enrique have had to comeback from a two-goal deficit twice against both Rennes and Lille.

The back-to-back Champions League winners have faced two really good teams of this league, but they should have nonetheless been able to at least get one victory out of these two clashes. While they also started the season with two away games, this PSG team have all the weapons in their squad to be far more superior in than most Ligue 1 teams.

Luis Enrique had to do without Ousmane Dembélé for this game but the Spaniard will need to find solutions to manage a win in their next game against AS Monaco next week.

2- The PSG defence is easy to pick apart

The start of the season is quite disappointing, despite the victory in UEFA Super Cup over Aston Villa. The Parisians have conceded at least one goal in every game they played so far this season and have failed to look reasuring defensively.

In each of their first two league games, they concede two goals and were numerous times picked apart by their opponents who did not struggle to create chances against Paris. They will need to raise their level if they are to defend both their domestic and European titles.

Their next opponents is AS Monaco, a tough side, and they will need to show composure at the back if they are to not only keep a clean sheet, but also secure their first win of the campaign.

3- Vitinha, superstar mode in the last five minutes

Lille were incredibly close from securing the three points against PSG after a remarkable collective performance, punctuated by two wonderful goals. However, in the dying embers of the game, PSG managed to score two goals to secure another last-gasp draw. This would not have been possible without Vitinha, the Portuguese maestro was instrumental as he scored an incredible goal to reduce the deficit at the start of added time before delivering a superb cross to Marquinhos for the equaliser.

The Portuguese midfielder quite literally changed the trajectory of this game that seemed promised to the hosts. He was not as influential as he could be in the first few games this season, but came out of his box at the best time for his team.
