Paris Saint-Germain will host Auxerre at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 6 of Ligue 1 McDonald's. Luis Enrique and his team fell 1-0 at the hands of Olympique de Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome in Le Classique on Monday 22nd.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembélé was awarded the FIFA Ballon d'Or in Paris after his historical 2024 - 2025 campaign after winning the treble with Paris. Moreover, nine PSG stars were nominated in the top 30 of the Ballon d'Or.

Three key talking point ahead of PSG vs Auxerre

1. Bounce back from Le Classique defeat

On Saturday, Luis Enrique and his side will face Auxerre at the Parc des Princes, their first match since their their defeat of the season at the hands of Marseille, their biggest rival in the league in Le Classique.

In this game, Les Parisiens had several key offensive players sidelined through injuries, such as Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé. However, Paris' downfall in this game was not only due to their lack of firepower but mostly to individual mistakes. Additionally, Marseille, in front of their fans and looking to end their 14 years home losing streak against Paris put in a greater level of intensity than Luis Enrique's team.

BBouncing back from this loss with a win against Auxerre, will also be the best way to prepare their upcoming Champions League clash against Barcelona and Lamine Yamal.

2. Luis Enrique must rotate the squad ahed of the Barcelona Champions League clash

While it is important to bounce back from their loss in Le Classique, they must not forget their biggest objective this season which is defending their title in the Champions League. To do so, Luis Enrique will need to manage his squad as well as he did last season.

The Spaniard tactician and his staff perfectly managed the level of fitness of his squad last season and managed to avoid any significant injuries. With only one month between the two seasons, Les Parisiens have already suffered from several injuries setbacks from key players.

Therefore, to avoid anymore injuries Luis Enrique must rotate his squad against Auxerre despite their need to bounce back from their defeat against Marseille last week.

3. Gonçalo Ramos must not start

The Portuguese was one of the key elements of this treble-winning campaign for PSG. However, this season more was expected of him following the multiple injuries suffered by teammates in the offensive line and he failed to deliver when he was given a starting berth by his coach.

Meanwhile, he still manged to be impactful when coming off the bench as it seems that he performs better with less responsibilities with a super-sub role. Which is why he should not be given a starting role for the time being with PSG.
