Paris Saint-Germain took down RC Lens 2-0 at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 4 of the Ligue 1 McDonald's. The European Champions continued their winning streak as they sit at the top of the league with 12 points, two points ahed of their closest rival.
Les Parisiens faced Lens without several key players following the injuries of Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué but were able to count on Bradley Barcola to bagged a brace in the win. Following the game, the team and the fans bid farewell to Presnel Kimpembe who departed the club after 20 years to join Qatar SC.
3 key takeaways from PSG vs RC Lens
Bradley Barcola stepped up to the plate
With several key players sidelined because of injuries, a lot of the offensive responsibilities fell on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola's laps. Unfortunately, while the Georgian star was subbed off after an injury inside the first 30 minutes of the game, Bradley Barcola bagged a brace to lead his side to victory.
He scored two fantastic goals that were the difference between the two sides in this difficult game at a moment when his team needed him to step up as they saw several of their players go down injured.
The French international proved that he could be one of the team's offensive leader as he is set to shoulder bigger responsibilities ahead of Paris' Champions League campaign debut against Atalanta on Wednesday.
Injury crisis
Despite their convincing victory against Lens, not all was perfect as Les Parisiens suffered three more injuries to their team as Kang-In Lee, Lucas Beraldo and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added their names to Parisians injury list.
The Georgia international seemed to suffer from a muscular injury and was subbed off after 30 minutes, therefore, his participation to Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League clash against Atalanta is uncertain. His injury left Paris' offensive line depleted for weeks to come as Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are now the only options for Luis Enrique on the wings.
Meanwhile, Lucas Beraldo and Kang-In Lee, two solid back-up options for the Spaniard coach, suffered ankle injuries and will miss at least a couple of weeks, which is a big blow for the European Champions as the schedule is intensifying.
Gonçalo Ramos failed to convert his chances
In an injury-ridden offensive line, Gonçalo Ramos has a golden chance to prove himself as Paris entered a long and difficult stretch of important games, including the upcoming clashes against Atalanta in the Champions League and Olympique de Marseille in Le Classique next Sunday.
However, the Portuguese striker failed to convert several of his chances against a relatively easy opponent. Hopefully, he will be able to put in a top-level performance in PSG's next games.
