Paris secured a dominant 3-0 home victory over rock-bottom side FC Metz at the Parc des Princes thanks to another great performance from Désiré Doué who scored his third goal in the last two games before being replaced at halftime. Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos then added two goals to secure an important win and claim the top spot in Ligue 1 following RC Lens' 3-2 loss to Monaco.

Here are the positives and the negatives as Paris cruised to a comfortable 3-0 home victory over FC Metz.

Positives and negatives as PSG dominate Metz at home

Positive: Great preparation for the second-leg against Monaco

This game against rock-bottom side Metz was the perfect opportunity for PSG and Luis Enrique to rest some key players and see some new faces in the starting lineup. Dro Fernandez, Ibrahim Mbaye, Lucas Beraldo and Kang-In Lee were all given an opportunity to impress and many were able to perform against a struggling team.

The most important in this game was that almost all the usual starters were able to rest including Vitinha and Pacho who played most of the games this season for PSG. Additionally, Doué who was in a difficult period recently is now showcasing a remarkable resilience while delivering great performances.

Positive: Back at the top of the league

With Lens unexpectedly losing 3-2 to AS Monaco at home, Paris had an almost unmissable chance to get back at the top of the League as they hosted relegation-threatened FC Metz. Despite over seven changes to the starting lineup that faced Monaco last week in the first-leg of the Champions League Play-offs, Les Parisiens easily defeated Metz.

While there is still a lot of games left to play in the league, including an upcoming clash against Lens on Matchday 29. Taking the lead now gives a lot of control to Luis Enrique and his team as they are still engaged in the Champions League.

Negative: Injury worries for Désiré Doué

After their disappointing 3-1 loss to Rennes last weekend, Désiré Doué was arguably at a low point after many injuries this season. However, he came on as a substitute against Monaco midweek and delivered an outstanding performance scoring two goals and being at the start of Hakimi's goal. The 2025 Golden Boy then scored less than two minutes into the game against Metz, proving to fans and observers that he was back at his best level.

However, after the break, he was surprisingly taken off by Luis Enrique and was rumoured to have sustained another muscular injury with fear that he could miss the upcoming clash against Monaco on Wednesday. Fortunately, the former Rennes player revealed after the game that his substitution was a precautionary measure from his coach.
